• Job Placement Assistance: BIT, with the support of Durousseau Electrical Institute and WellDan Corporation, provides job placement assistance to graduates of its training programs. Omari Bakari

Omari Bakari is a seasoned technology leader and community advocate with a distinguished career spanning decades. After serving in the U.S. Army, Omari began his educational journey at Los Angeles Southwest College and continued his education at Howard University studying Mass Communication.
As a pioneer in the publishing industry, Omari’s contributions have been instrumental in shaping the landscape of print (as the Compton Journal Publisher), and digital media. He played a key role in the development of the 1976 Malcolm Baldrige Award-winning GTE Superpages, leading the team responsible for directory headings and subheadings.
Omari’s expertise extends beyond traditional publishing. He has been at the forefront of technological innovation, working with N&C, Inc., Baltimore’s 2017 Innovation Week Tech Start-up of the year, to modernize the regulatory process using IBM Watson. This experience, coupled with his extensive background in print publishing, has enabled him to successfully navigate the transition to digital media.
Currently, Omari is the President of the Los Angeles Chapter of Blacks in Technology, where he is dedicated to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the tech industry. His leadership and commitment to community engagement have made him a respected figure in both the professional and philanthropic spheres.
