We Can Make A Difference In Our Communities
Our neighborhoods deserve to be clean, safe, and vibrant spaces where everyone can thrive. To achieve this vision, the 2nd District Beautification Project, in partnership with the Los Angeles Conservation Corps, has been hard at work revitalizing the unincorporated communities in our district that have been most affected by illegal dumping and debris.
Focusing on the neighborhoods of East Rancho Dominguez, Florence-Firestone, Westmont/West-Athens, and Willowbrook, this initiative is not just about cleaning up our streets—it’s about restoring community pride and creating environments where families can feel proud to live and raise their children.
Since the project’s inception in May, the dedicated 2nd District Beautification Project Cleanup crew has made remarkable strides in clearing our neighborhoods of unsightly trash and overgrown weeds. Composed of LA Conservation Corps members—many of whom grew up right here in the district—the team has worked tirelessly to identify and address the most pressing areas of concern. Their hard work has paid off: as of this month, they have removed an astounding 30,835 pounds of trash and cleared 4,921 square feet of weeds.
The project’s impact extends beyond mere cleanup efforts. By engaging local residents, especially those who have deep roots in the community, we are fostering a collective sense of responsibility and pride in our shared spaces. These efforts not only beautify our neighborhoods but also help to deter future dumping and neglect, setting a new standard for what our communities can and should be.
We encourage everyone to stay informed about the ongoing progress of this initiative. The 2nd District Beautification Project is more than just a cleanup effort—it’s a movement to reclaim our communities, restore their beauty, and build a better future for all who call these neighborhoods home. We are proud of the progress we’ve made so far and look forward to continuing this important work together.
Let’s keep our momentum going and make the 2nd District a place we can all be proud of!
